4th Annual Oyster Shucking Competition
Monday, March 15th :: 3:30-4:30pm, Exhibit Hall
For seafood fanatics, there are few more satisfying feelings than working a wide-handled knife through the crease of an oyster’s shell and snapping open the watertight seal that keeps the filter-feeding mollusk safe and snug. To master this hazardous task and do it cleanly and repeatedly takes a lot of practice; to do it competitively takes a special kind of talent.
The fourth annual International Boston Seafood Show oyster-shucking contest will take place on Monday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the special events area on the show floor. Join us for this fun, heated competition where contestants pit against each other, and against the clock, to shuck oysters as fast as they can.
William “Chopper” Young, the current Guinness World Oyster Shucking Champion defended his title at the 2009 show as Fastest Shucker in the East for the third year in a row.
